What do we do about our pond?
Our pond is 100' long X 30' wide X 8' deep. The installer told us that there would plenty of oxygen to sustain fish in it over the winter even if the top freezes solid. We have 5 large mouth bass, 5 catfish and some minnows for food. Is this true? We really can't afford an aerator right now.

It will probably be alright. I have a smaller pond than that, a pre-fab one, with 5 Goldfish in it.. They have survived 3 winters without any help..
It's true
Put in your pond an orange cone ( like the one you see during roads repairs ).

They are strong against any freezing in order to keep a zone of free water underneath its circular base.. Plus they have a good opening to let the oxygen in.
